AAAA DEI ScholarshipAAAA is dedicated to developing an inclusive profession for people of all backgrounds to pursue their passion for patient care. To accomplish this, we established a new scholarship designed to enhance opportunities within the CAA profession. Application ProcessApplicants must submit an essay and complete the form above by May 1 for inclusion. The essay topic is chosen by AAAA leadership and is unique each year. We will notify you upon receipt of your complete application. You do not need to be a AAAA member to apply. The scholarship is available for any minority or disadvantaged student applying to or attending an Anesthesiologist Assistant program. Grading and ScoringVolunteer CAAs and AAAA leadership will evaluate each application using a pre-determined rubric in a blind review process to ensure fairness. Eligibility RequirementsTo qualify for this scholarship you must meet the following eligibility requirements: A person of any ethnic minority group(s) including but not limited to Latinos (including Puerto Ricans), African Americans, Asian Americans, Arab and other Middle Eastern Americans, Native Americans, Native Hawai’ians and other Pacific Islanders, and Alaska Natives pursuing a career as a certified anesthesiologist assistant.* Completion of all pre-requisite coursework & application requirements to the AA program of their choice Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.3 *According to the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), "Underrepresented in medicine means those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population.“ In fact, before 2003 the AAMC defined historically "underrepresented minority” (URM), as Blacks, Mexican-Americans, Native Americans (that is, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians), and mainland Puerto Ricans.
